STUDENTS of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, have identified the man in a viral video allegedly attempting to engage in a sexual act with a female student as Ehigie Timothy, believed to be a lecturer in the institution’s Department of Statistics.
In a one minute viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), on Friday, July 4, Timothy was stripped naked and beaten by a man who identified himself as the student’s husband, along with some young men. The student was not named.
“You will lose your job oh… Oga lecturer you come married man house. Na for my matrimonial bed you want to **** my wife? Idiot” a voice in the background said.
Timothy allegedly attempted to engage in a sexual act with a female student who gave birth just a few months ago in her matrimonial home in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state with the promise of awarding her high grades.
The student had reportedly confided in her husband about the lecturer’s inappropriate offer and, with his encouragement, she agreed to the arrangement and invited the lecturer to her matrimonial home. The lecturer, unaware of the setup, was caught in the act.
“Ahh our lecturer, Pesin wey we bake cake last year, he still give us D” a student commented on the post.
“The man is my sister lecturer and her project supervisor both in ND and HND. Very useless man” another user commented.
“Omo things de sup ooo. Our own statistics Lecture omo” a user also commented.
This student’s case mirrors a report that said at least 63 percent of female students in Nigerian universities experience sexual harassment at the hands of staff and fellow students.
Oga Lecturer reported that at least 43 lecturers were accused or indicted for sexual harassment between 2018 and 2023.
